Melissa has been a part of the Fitness Crossroad community since her family joined as members in 2003. During her time at Fitness Crossroad she has connected with wonderful people and cultivated friendships that she values immensely. Her three children have literally grown up at the club -- going to childcare, camps, karate class and making their own friends along the way. While she has taught at various places around the Twin Cities, Fitness Crossroad truly feels like home.
A group fitness instructor since 2005, Melissa has led a variety of formats including cardio kickboxing, spinning, step, boot camp, sculpt and yoga -- as well as classes for active older adults. Her certifications include NETA Group Fitness, Spinning Indoor Cycling and EnhanceFitness (a UCare-sponsored program for older adults). Melissa completed her 230-hour Registered Yoga Teacher training through a year-long program at the Yoga Center of Minneapolis in 2011. She is also certified in Prenatal Yoga and will be completing Advanced Prenatal Yoga Training in 2012. Melissa loves working with mamas-to-be and supporting them through their journeys of healthy, peaceful pregnancies. She is a trained doula and is pursuing steps to complete her certification.
Melissa is passionate about making health and fitness a fun and accessible part of people's real lives. Most of all, she loves connecting with and encouraging the people in her classes, and is truly grateful to be even a small part of the healthy choices they make each day. In addition to teaching classes, Melissa is involved in many aspects of the club including communications, web and social media. She lives in St. Anthony Village with her husband Trent, their three school-age children and their dog Yogi.
